Muse Reboots Resistance Tour with New US Dates

Posted by Janice Bryant On April - 18 - 2010

British prog rockers Muse, fresh from their appearance last weekend at Coachella, have announced fall dates for a run of North America to continue supporting “The Resistance,” their album released last year.

The outing will kick off in San Diego on September 22. So far there are dates scheduled for 14 cities, wrapping up in Cincinnati OH on November 6. Highlights of the tour include visit to Los Angeles on September 25, Denver on October 2 and on November 3 in St. Louis.

The outing’s pre-sales will start on April 21. The general public will be able to buy tickets beginning on April 24. Additional details are available on the band’s website.

In September “Resistance,” the band’s fifth studio album, was released. The set of 11 tracks topped 13 country album charts, including Australia and the UK. On the US Billboard 200 it peaked in the No. 3 spot.

The set ends with a 12 minute plus, three part “symphony,” which according to guitarist/singer Matthew Bellamy exemplifies the appreciation the band has for classical music.

Last year, in an interview with UK Times Online Bellamy said, in my mind lots of Muse songs were a lot more orchestrated and far more elaborate in how I heard them. I imagined them often with a symphony orchestra playing them, or a large choir singing them, or them in the setting of an opera. If your imagination is that active, you will be drawn to classical music.

“The Resistance” is a follow up to “Black Holes and Revelations” from 2007 and “Absolution” from 2003, the breakthrough set for the band in the US. A live DVD/CD set, “HAARP” was also released by the band in 2008.

Muse Earns Prestigious Silver Clef Award

Posted by Janice Bryant On April - 6 - 2010

In July, Muse will be receiving the Silver Clef award, a year after the rock band turned the award down in 2009.

Muse will be accepting their prize a few days following their headlining gig at Glastonbury festival this year.

The band from Devon said they felt proud joining the ranks of musicians like The Who, Elton John, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Robert Plant.

Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and TV star, will be hosting the ceremony this year to be held in the Hilton hotel in London.

Recent, Silver Clef recipients include Coldplay, Oasis and Take That. The award is presented every year on Nordoff Robbins behalf, a music therapy charity.

Matt Bellamy, singer, Christopher Wolstenholme, bassist, and Dominic Howard, drummer, from Muse said they were proud to get recognition from an exception charity having a positive impact for so many people..

Sharon Osbourne, former judge for X Factor, repeated their sentiments. She said she looked forward to the day that was looking like it was going to be fabulous.
