Muse, Phish, The Eagles To Rock Austin City Limits Fest

Muse, the Eagles, Phish, M.I.A and the Strokes are heading the billing for the Austin City Limits Music Festival’s 9th annual edition which will be held in Austin at Zilker Park on October 8-9.

Among the over 130 musicians and bands to play at the festival this year include Robert Earl Keen, the National, Gogol Bordello, Sonic Youth, Deadmau5, Monster of Folk, Band of Horses, Norah Jones, Vampire Weekend, Spoon, LCD Soundsystem and the Flaming Lips. Making their debut at ACL this year are Miike Snow, Girls, the Temper Trap and Broken Bells.

ACL single day tickets are on sale currently. Limited numbers of travel packages and three day VIP passes are sill available. Three day festival passes sold out just 14 hours after they went on sale on April 21, a festival record.

The ACL festival, which started in 2002, is produced by C3 Presents from Austin. They also produce Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival. ACL last year ranked as No. 4 on the Billboard top 10 list for 2009’s highest grossing festivals. Over three years the festival has drawn 195,000 people and pulled in $13.5 million.

This year’s sponsors for the Austin City Limits Music Festival include Sweet Leaf Tea, H-E-B, BMI, Austin Ventures, American Express, AMD and Budweiser.

Lily Allen Signs On to Support Muse

So much for retirement for Lily Allen. The singer has announced that later this year she will support Muse. She will be performing for the band’s Wembley Stadium gig in London on September 10.

Earlier this year, Lily announced she was taking a music industry break. However, the rapper Jay-Z has persuaded the singer to sing with him at the Wireless Festival in London on July 4.

Yesterday, it was confirmed also that she will playing at Big Chill Festival this year. It will be held August 5-8 in Ledbury, Herefordshire at the Eastnor Castle Deer Park.

Recently, Lily stated that she was quitting the music industry in order to parent a child with her boyfriend Sam Cooper.

She said in an interview with Absolute Radio that she wanted to be very hands-on during the first couple of years with a baby. I don’t like the idea of leaving them.

The singer added that she wouldn’t be making another record again for at least four to five years.
