So much for retirement for Lily Allen. The singer has announced that later this year she will support Muse. She will be performing for the band’s Wembley Stadium gig in London on September 10.

Earlier this year, Lily announced she was taking a music industry break. However, the rapper Jay-Z has persuaded the singer to sing with him at the Wireless Festival in London on July 4.

Yesterday, it was confirmed also that she will playing at Big Chill Festival this year. It will be held August 5-8 in Ledbury, Herefordshire at the Eastnor Castle Deer Park.

Recently, Lily stated that she was quitting the music industry in order to parent a child with her boyfriend Sam Cooper.

She said in an interview with Absolute Radio that she wanted to be very hands-on during the first couple of years with a baby. I don’t like the idea of leaving them.

The singer added that she wouldn’t be making another record again for at least four to five years.

British prog rockers Muse, fresh from their appearance last weekend at Coachella, have announced fall dates for a run of North America to continue supporting “The Resistance,” their album released last year.

The outing will kick off in San Diego on September 22. So far there are dates scheduled for 14 cities, wrapping up in Cincinnati OH on November 6. Highlights of the tour include visit to Los Angeles on September 25, Denver on October 2 and on November 3 in St. Louis.

The outing’s pre-sales will start on April 21. The general public will be able to buy tickets beginning on April 24. Additional details are available on the band’s website.

In September “Resistance,” the band’s fifth studio album, was released. The set of 11 tracks topped 13 country album charts, including Australia and the UK. On the US Billboard 200 it peaked in the No. 3 spot.

The set ends with a 12 minute plus, three part “symphony,” which according to guitarist/singer Matthew Bellamy exemplifies the appreciation the band has for classical music.

Last year, in an interview with UK Times Online Bellamy said, in my mind lots of Muse songs were a lot more orchestrated and far more elaborate in how I heard them. I imagined them often with a symphony orchestra playing them, or a large choir singing them, or them in the setting of an opera. If your imagination is that active, you will be drawn to classical music.

“The Resistance” is a follow up to “Black Holes and Revelations” from 2007 and “Absolution” from 2003, the breakthrough set for the band in the US. A live DVD/CD set, “HAARP” was also released by the band in 2008.

I have never been a big fan of SXSW rumors. There’s quite a few blogs out there that choose some big bands out on tour, look at the touring schedules for them, and if the bands aren’t scheduled during SSXW week state that the bands are free and place them on the rumor list. Last year, for instance, neither The Faces or Elton John had dates booked for the week of SXSW and made it onto the rumor list.

So far the Stubbs Saturday night schedule lists only Minus the Bear and The Drums. Stubbs is the large outdoor venue where all the big names perform during SXSW. The secret show last year was Metallica. In this year’s secret show Muse? They have dates in Dallas on March 17 and on March 18 will be in Houston, so potentially they could be in Austin to perform on Saturday night. It appears we’re not the only ones thinking about the possibility. Someone from the Muse message board has claimed that a friend of theirs booked Muse and crew that week for a hotel in Austin.

It also appears that for a week the rumor has been circulating on Twitter, along with a mention of the Deftones being on the Muse bill as well.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Last year the band, who first met and had gigs in Teignmouth, had two sold out gigs that thrilled the seafront resort’s local fans.

Muse is a 2010 Brit awards nominee for best British group.

Kasabian, JLS, Friendly Fires and Doves are also nominees for the category.

On the band’s social networking page at Twitter, Muse told their fans that the news made them very pleased.

There was an outpouring of congratulations at the band’s website from their fans.

Muse was named as the 2007 Brits best live band. They received a nomination in 2008 for the same award.

At the Gaffa Magazine Awards in Denmark earlier this month, Muse received three awards. They were for best international song for their tune “Uprising,” best international album for “Resistance,” and they also were named as the best international band.

2010 Brit awards show is being held on February 16 in London.

After Muse, the British alt-rockers, finish up with their round of radio station sponsored West Coast holiday concerts, they will be heading out on their new world tour to back “The Resistance.” Next year’s trek will include a couple US arena shows along with Silversun Pickups.

Beginning in Oakland, CA on December 11 and ending in Seattle on December 15, Muse will be headlining a small set of holiday concerts. Then the band will be heading out on the Asian as well as Australian legs of their tour before they return to the US to do a round of shows starting in Atlanta on February 27. Their six dates with Silversun in the U.S. include stopping in New York City on March 3, in Boston on March 6, and Detroit on March 13 before they wrap up in Salt Lake City on April 5.

In September Muse released “The Resistance,” the band’s fifth studio album. The set of 11 tracks has been on top of the album charts of 13 different countries. These include Australia and the UK. In the US the album hit the Billboard 200’s third spot.

“The Resistance” is a follow up to “Black Holes and Revelations” from 2007 and “Absolution” from 2003, the US breakthrough album for the band. In 2008 Muse released “HAARP,” a live DVD/CD set.

The prog-pop trio earlier this year won two awards at the London awards ceremony for Shockwaves NME.

Muse, Lilly Allen and Kasabian won the Q Awards prizes, however the bickering, mouthy Oasis spirit lingered still over the awards show held today in central London.

For a long time the Gallagher brothers had a loving relationship with Q magazine and the awards. Past bash attendees fondly recall the time that Liam stood up on a chair to call Chris Martin pot plant.

However this summer Oasis split up. They lost out today to Muse, who was named as the world’s best band.

Best album award went to Kasabian’s “West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum,” the band’s third album. It has been widely praised for its exploratory sound. Tom Meighan, the band’s singer, confused the award for being best live act, and dedicated the award to his gran.

The obligatory controversy was provided by Lily Allen. Her tune “the Fear” won best song. Previously the singer had posed in a Q cover with two roaring panthers while in her stockings. Last week the cover earned an industry award. Allen claimed her award while drinking from a pint matching her sequined dress. When she sat down she lit up a cigarette. The ballroom was a no-smoking one, but nobody was brave enough to ask her to put the cigarette out.

Along with the acts that the Q editors and readers view as British music’s future, Amy Winehouse made an appearance that was characteristically skittish. There were also the awards genuinely deserved being doled out to all of the grandees of rock. Edwyn Collins was recognized as legend of the year, while Marianne Faithfull was named the icon. Specials won the inspiration award while Cat Stevens was recognized as the classic songwriter.

The with the most acclaim at the end, Robert Plant was recognized for his outstanding contributions to music. Led Zeppelin’s front man made a lyrical and moving speech looking back at this career. He thanked everyone, ranging from Clarksdale, Mississippi songs and daughters to Steve Bull, former Wolves striker.

“The Unforgettable Fire,” U2’s album, was awarded classic album award. The classic song was “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, with its unofficial ban on Radio 1.
